Peruvian writer and content creator Victor Caballero, known online as Curwen, has announced the suspension of his upcoming wedding to influencer Carla Campos Salazar.
Caballero confirmed the marriage was off during a live broadcast following compromising footage aired by television host Magaly Medina, declaring that he was deeply affected by the situation.
The wedding had originally been scheduled for November 14 before the couple pushed the date back to April due to scheduling issues, but Caballero stated the ceremony has now been called off entirely.
Uncertainty surrounding ceremony preparations
Addressing viewers on his show, Caballero explained that the production team behind Medina's entertainment program had contacted his wedding organizers to inquire about the event. He noted that he chose to confirm the cancellation publicly to spoil the television show's planned scoop.
Caballero acknowledged that very little work had been completed on the ceremony prior to the decision. He explained that ongoing timing constraints and organizational difficulties were the primary reasons why preparations had not advanced further.
Statements from the wedding planner
The announcement directly contradicted earlier statements made by Gloria Galvez, the wedding planner overseeing the ceremony. Speaking to reporters from the show Magaly TV, La Firme, Galvez had insisted that preparations were proceeding smoothly and that the couple remained calm.
Galvez explained that the couple had intended to keep the exact date of the marriage private after details began leaking online, adding that organizers were working under normal conditions despite the media speculation generated by a promotional preview suggesting the wedding would proceed.
Background on the television scandal
The controversy unfolded after Medina's show released an advance clip on August 18 highlighting footage involving Campos Salazar. In Peruvian entertainment media, such televised reveals of public figures are known as an ampay, a term coined by gossip broadcasts to describe recorded compromises.
Caballero is a political commentator, journalist, and author based in Peru who produces digital content under the handle Curwen. Campos Salazar is a Lima-based social media influencer.
