Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles attacked Novorossiysk in southern Russia, prompting Mayor Andrey Kravchenko to put all emergency services on maximum readiness. Kravchenko urged local residents to stay away from windows and take safety precautions while air defense systems repelled the drone strike.
The attack forced officials to close the highway connecting Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik. Kravchenko stated that traffic toward Gelendzhik was blocked from the intersection of Sukhum Highway and Karyernaya Street, while traffic toward Novorossiysk was stopped from Kabardinka. Video footage published online later showed fireworks being set off in the village of Kabardinka during the drone raid.
On August 11, Russian military forces repelled a separate Ukrainian drone attack against Sevastopol, according to Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev. Falling drone debris ignited a forest fire covering 500 square meters on a steep slope at Ilyas-Kaya along the Southern Coast of Crimea. Emergency responders from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local rescue services, the forestry service, and the Russian Black Sea Fleet deployed to fight the flames.
Drone Damage Across Sevastopol
Debris from downed drones started additional fires in the Sevastopol area, including a blaze near Serebryany Beach in Balaklava. In the Gagarinsky District, falling fragments set fire to the roof of a residential house inside a gardening association. Responders quickly put out the house fire, and no casualties were reported.
The drone strikes damaged three apartment buildings across the Balaklavsky District and on the Severnaya Side, where residents reported shattered windows. Authorities also located one downed drone that failed to detonate. Sevastopol emergency services reported that firefighters relied on backpack extinguishers and manual tools on the steep terrain, with people forming chains to pass containers of seawater up the hillside. Emergency crews later contained the open flames near the Inzhir area and began soaking the ground.
Black Sea and Regional Strikes
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian strike drones destroyed a Ukrainian patrol boat in the Black Sea. The ministry stated that the vessel was used to escort cargo ships transporting weapons into Ukrainian ports. Russian forces also launched drone attacks against logistics centers supporting the Ukrainian military, as well as ammunition depots, drone storage facilities, and temporary bases housing Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries.
In the Kherson region, a serviceman from the 18th Army of the Dnepr troop group, using the call sign Primorsk, reported that Russian forces destroyed fuel supplies in one city. He stated that the operation left Ukrainian forces without fuel and partially paralyzed their logistics on the right bank of the Kherson region.
