Turkey increased its exports of fruits and vegetables to Russia by 8.3 percent between January 1 and August 20, 2026, compared with the total volume recorded for all of 2025.
Turkish exporters delivered a total of 524,800 tonnes of produce to the Russian market during the nearly eight-month reporting period, exceeding the total volume shipped throughout the entire previous year.
The figures were published on the official website of Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's federal agricultural surveillance service, citing data from the state information system Argus-Fito.
Rosselkhoznadzor oversees phytosanitary control and agricultural import safety across the Russian Federation. Its Argus-Fito system tracks foreign plant product deliveries and issues border clearance documentation for agricultural shipments entering the country.
Surge in citrus and stone fruit exports
Fruit deliveries served as the primary driver of overall export growth from the Mediterranean nation during the period. Mandarin shipments experienced the largest volume increase, rising 39.2 percent to reach 224,300 tonnes.
Nectarine exports grew by 2.6 times to 62,600 tonnes, while apricot shipments rose 47.9 percent to 40,000 tonnes. Turkish exporters also delivered 36,900 tonnes of peaches, up 31.4 percent, and 22,700 tonnes of grapefruits, representing a 27.5 percent increase.
Turkey is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and one of the largest agricultural producers in the Mediterranean region. The country remains a major exporter of citrus and stone fruits across Eastern Europe and Asia.
Reciprocal agricultural trade from Russia
Trade in agricultural products between the two nations has expanded in both directions. Russian agricultural exporters have simultaneously increased their shipments of grain and cereal crops to the Turkish market.
During the first half of 2026, Russian barley exports to Turkey increased 12.3 times compared with the same period a year earlier, while wheat exports rose 1.9 times. Shipments of Russian corn also recorded a 19 percent surge in early summer.
The growth in grain deliveries has consolidated Russia's position among the top food suppliers operating in the Turkish market.
