Former press spokesperson Thanasis Avgerinos has called for a review of Hope for Democracy following his expulsion and criticism from 22 former party officials.
In a social media post, Avgerinos said the party needed to discuss quietly and simply what went wrong and why almost the entire Tempi Movement remained outside Hope for Democracy. He added that while hope dies last, it dies.
His post followed a joint statement signed by 22 former party officials, including Avgerinos and 21 others, responding to claims made by party leadership about their departures. The signatories said leaving the party was a matter of principle over party operations rather than personal ambition or seeking office.
Party Governance Complaints
The former officials criticized a centralized management model, limited involvement of collective bodies, and a lack of democratic procedures in decision-making. They demanded answers regarding official selection methods, internal transparency, and the role of the party base.
The signatories added that their departure does not mean abandoning the founding principles and values of Hope for Democracy.
