Olympic champion in cross-country skiing complained of nightmares before the Olympics

Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Teresa Johaug complained of nightmares ahead of the Beijing Olympics. Her words are reported by the Norwegian edition of NRK.

“I have to admit, last week I was scared. I was afraid that I would get sick and not be able to compete at the Olympics. I even had nightmares about coronavirus tests, ”said the athlete. She noted that she wants to win a personal Olympic gold medal in Beijing, which she does not have yet. Johaug added that she has a good chance of making her dream come true.

On February 2, it became known that the Norwegian skier, five-time world champion Heidi Weng is ready to abandon the Olympics due to fear of quarantine. “Heidi fears that he may pass the test at home, but fail it upon arrival in China and again plunge into uncertainty,” said coach Ole Morten Iversen.

On January 28, it was reported that three athletes from the Norwegian cross-country skiing team had contracted the coronavirus. Sick Heidi Weng, Simen Hegstad Kruger and Anne Kjersti Kalvo, as well as coach Arild Monsen were at the training camp in the Italian Seiser Alm. Russian skiers also trained there, including Alexander Bolshunov, who refused to talk to Norwegian journalists and drove them away.

The Beijing Olympic Games will be held from 4 to 20 February. Skiers will compete for 12 sets of awards.
