Pinyaev and Saltykov were nominated for the title of best young player of the year in Europe
The list of 100 nominees for the annual Golden Boy Award, which honors the best young (under 21) footballer of the year in Europe, has been announced. The rating is published on the award website.
The list includes two Russians – 19-year-old Nikita Saltykov, who belongs to Lokomotiv Moscow (plays on loan for Krylya Sovetov) and Sergei Pinyaev. The players took 62nd and 78th places, respectively.
The leader of the rating was 16-year-old Barcelona striker Lamin Yamal. Behind him are 19-year-old Benfica midfielder Joao Neves and Manchester United midfielder Alejandro Garnacho.
In 2023, the winner of the award was Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham. Then there were also two Russians among the nominees – defender Viktor Melekhin from Rostov and Dynamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan, who moved to Spanish Real Sociedad in the summer of the same year.
