Orenburg stated that Vera and Mansilla can obtain Russian citizenship
Orenburg sports director Dmitry Andreev answered the question about obtaining Russian citizenship by Argentine players of the Russian Premier League (RPL) club. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
Andreev said that citizenship is being considered for two athletes – Brian Mansilla and Lucas Vera. “With regard to Gabriel Florentin, not yet. I don’t know why he refused,” he added.
Earlier, Mansilla explained his desire to obtain a Russian passport. He stated that he would like to join the Russian national team. “And also so that more Latin American players can be added to the club’s application,” the Argentine noted.
26-year-old Mansilla and Vera have been playing for Orenburg since the summer of 2022. Both players have never played for the Argentina national team.
