After two strong victories, the Brazilian under-20 team returns to the field this Monday, for the 3rd round of the hexagonal final of the South American Championship of the category. This time, the opponent will be Paraguay, at El Campín, in Colombia. The ball rolls from 19:30 (from Brasilia).
After advancing at the top of Group A, in the first phase, with 10 points, Brazil maintains its good performance in the final hexagonal. In this final phase, coach Ramon Menezes’ men beat Ecuador, 3-1, and Venezuela, 3-0.
“This group is different. It makes you proud to see, to work. All games have their degree of difficulty and in all of them we show our unity. We have three more games and we are going to prepare for this game with Paraguay, a very tough game as it always was”, said the youth team coach.
In case of victory over the Paraguayans, the Brazilian under-20 team can confirm the qualification for the category’s World Cup. The vacancy is granted to the four best teams in the South American Championship.
For that, in addition to the triumph over Paraguay, the Brazilians need to root for the stumbles of Venezuela and Ecuador, who face Uruguay and Colombia, respectively.
With 100% success, Brazil has also counted on the individual prominence of some athletes, such as Vitor Roque and Andrey, who are the two best scorers in the tournament.
Paraguay still hasn’t won in the final hexagonal – they drew with Venezuela and lost to Colombia. With one point, the Paraguayan team is in fourth place.
