The Samsung Galaxy S Fan Edition lineup has existed since 2020 as a lower cost alternative to flagship Galaxy S devices. Historically, FE owners had to wait for stable update releases because public beta tests were reserved for top models. Samsung first shifted this policy with One UI 8.5 by including the Galaxy S25 FE, S24 FE, and S23 FE in public testing.

Testing regions and device compatibility

Initial testing of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S25 FE is expected in the United Kingdom, South Korea, and India. The testing area may expand to the United States, which is traditionally a primary market for Samsung firmware tests.

It is not yet clear if Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy S23 FE owners can join the program. Both devices are technically compatible with Android 17, but Samsung has not published a full list of eligible phones.

Work on One UI 9 is currently underway. Samsung Community forum users previously discovered beta program pages for the Galaxy S25 series, signaling preparations to broaden testing beyond the Galaxy S26 lineup. Tech outlet Sammobile also reported on the testing plans.
