Indian summer in Moscow will not arrive until the second half of September at the earliest, according to Yury Varakin, an advisor to the director of the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia.
Speaking in an interview with radio station Govorit Moskva, Varakin said that any period of warm autumnal weather in the capital city is most likely to occur in the latter half of the month.
Moderate weather accompanied by rainfall is expected to persist across Moscow until September 13 or 14. Varakin described September 2 as the warmest day recorded during the first half of the autumn month.
Temperatures on September 2 reached between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius. Varakin stated that temperatures of 24 to 25 degrees will not be seen again in Moscow or the surrounding Moscow region, also known as Podmoskovye, prior to September 15.
Upcoming drop in temperatures
Residents of the Moscow region were also warned about a cold spell ahead of Friday, September 4. Nighttime temperatures in the area surrounding the capital are expected to fall to 7 degrees Celsius.

The phrase describes a natural weather cycle where dry, mild conditions temporarily return after the initial autumn cooling, offering a final stretch of mild weather before winter sets in across Eastern Europe.
