State Duma International Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky has criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for condemning Russian military strikes in Ukraine. Writing on Telegram, Slutsky described von der Leyen's comments regarding strikes on military targets as a one-sided blindness of double standards.
The Russian parliamentarian said European leaders condemn Russian army operations while ignoring crimes committed by the Kyiv regime, including strikes on peaceful Russian citizens.
Slutsky pointed to von der Leyen's promise to send 1.4 billion euros generated from frozen Russian assets to support Kyiv. He claimed an international terrorist syndicate is reviving fascism in Europe and stated that new financial tranches would fail to assist Ukraine because Russian forces are systematically blocking Western weapons supply routes across land and sea.
EU Funding and Military Targets
Slutsky declared that eurozone military shipments for the Ukrainian armed forces are legitimate targets that will be destroyed. He added that money stolen from Russia will eventually have to be returned down to the last eurocent.
Von der Leyen previously stated that allocating proceeds from frozen Russian assets is required to maintain military operations against Russia. According to the European Commission chief, total payments under the initiative have reached 8 billion euros.
