Dmitriev, who also heads the Russian Direct Investment Fund, pointed out on social network X that gas storage levels across Europe have dropped significantly. He noted that Germany has filled its gas storage facilities to only 47.6 percent, compared to the usual 75 percent. In the Netherlands, gas reserves stand at 38.5 percent instead of the expected 77 percent.

Gas Storage Shortfalls

Writing on X, Dmitriev stated that winter was approaching and that the bloc faced an energy crisis of its own making. His comments follow an earlier forecast warning that the European Union risks its hardest winter in recent years due to a shortage of liquefied natural gas reserves. While Europe is expected to avoid a physical shortage, price increases remain almost inevitable.
