Actress Kate Beckinsale has sparked widespread concern among her social media followers after posting messages saying goodbye and wiping all content from her Instagram profile.
The 53-year-old British performer, best known for her roles in films such as Underworld and Pearl Harbor, removed all previously uploaded photos and videos from her official page, while updating her profile picture so it no longer shows her face.
On Sunday, September 20, Beckinsale published a black image on her personal account bearing only the word goodbye, without offering any further explanation.
A short while later, she shared a story depicting a rainbow alongside text offering congratulations, stating that her followers had won and that she was giving up.
Caroline Flack link and social media wipe
Heightening concern among her fans, the actress added a link in her profile biography that leads to a BBC report concerning the 2020 suicide of British television presenter Caroline Flack.
Flack was a prominent television personality in the United Kingdom who hosted the reality dating show Love Island before her death in February 2020.
Journalists from the American entertainment site TMZ have attempted to reach a representative for Beckinsale for comment, but no response has been received.
History of health struggles and personal loss
The recent posts are not the first time Beckinsale has prompted worry regarding her well-being online.
She previously posted a video explaining that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, an anxiety condition triggered by traumatic events, following a series of tragic family bereavements.
In February, the actress similarly deleted the content of her Instagram account, shortly after publishing an image that read you won.
Bereavement and psychological toll
Beckinsale has previously spoken about experiencing a severe psychological breakdown following the death of her mother.
In a social media post in December 2025, she described how she struggled even to eat while still grieving the earlier death of her father.
She stated that 2025 had been a really, really difficult year and noted that it was the final year her mother was on the planet, adding that she felt deeply conflicted about saying goodbye to her.
In an emotional video, Beckinsale recalled watching her 31-year-old father die from a massive heart attack, before later witnessing the death of her stepfather and watching her mother decline and pass away.
She explained that experiencing such intense pain did not open a person's appetite and questioned whether she was suffering from survivor's guilt following her stepfather's death.
Beckinsale clarified that her loss of appetite was not like anorexia, where someone starves themselves through willpower, but rather felt as though her body had shut down due to shock and trauma.
