Gisela Valcarcel in talks for Latina Television move

Latina Television general manager Eric Jurgensen has revealed ongoing discussions to bring veteran presenter Gisela Valcarcel and her daughter Ethel Pozo to the Peruvian broadcast network.

Speaking about the potential network moves, Jurgensen confirmed that negotiations remain active with both television personalities, although no binding contracts or specific program formats have been finalized.

Jurgensen said that official updates regarding their potential arrival at the San Felipe network would be announced soon, fueling speculation across the Peruvian media industry about Valcarcel returning to regular screen appearances.

Executive praise and network discussions

Jurgensen highlighted the career and enduring appeal of Valcarcel when asked about adding her to the broadcasting lineup at Latina Television. He said that Valcarcel retained great potential, as she always had throughout her career, and added that he would continue to back her in future projects.

The executive avoided providing specific details regarding potential show concepts or scheduling slots for the veteran host. He emphasized that any prospective role at Latina Television remains an open conversation between the network and the presenter rather than a completed deal.

Valcarcel, affectionately known to Peruvian television viewers as Senito, previously expressed a personal desire to produce and host a final season of her dance competition series, El Gran Show.

Valcarcel established herself over three decades as one of Peru's most prominent media personalities, rising to fame on daytime television before hosting popular weekend variety formats. Her television career includes hosting daytime talk shows and launching her own production company to create prime time entertainment programs.

The potential network transfer comes during a period of change for Valcarcel, who recently confirmed she will not participate in hosting the upcoming Teleton 2026 charity broadcast, citing explanations that she said were communicated to her by event organizers.

Approaches to Ethel Pozo

In addition to negotiations with Valcarcel, Jurgensen confirmed that Latina Television has made initial approaches to her daughter, television presenter Ethel Pozo. However, the general manager did not specify whether a defined program offer has been formally submitted to her.

Pozo previously co-hosted the morning magazine program America Hoy on rival broadcaster America Television before stepping down from her role. A few weeks ago, Pozo publicly hinted that surprises regarding her television future would soon be revealed, amid industry rumors linking her to a potential role at rival channel ATV.

Jurgensen himself brings substantial industry experience to the negotiations. Before taking charge as general manager of Latina Television at its San Felipe headquarters in Lima, he served for many years as a senior executive at America Television, Peru's largest commercial network.

Recent controversies and rivalries

Valcarcel has remained a frequent subject of commentary in Peruvian entertainment media despite her current absence from a regular weekly broadcast. During a recent television appearance, Valcarcel generated headlines by attempting to kiss the abdominal muscles of former reality television personality Mario Hart on air, prompting Pozo to step in and tell her mother that the gesture was unnecessary.

The host has also been involved in public exchanges with other prominent media figures. Entertainment television host Magaly Medina recently described Valcarcel as two faced after Valcarcel set specific conditions for a potential joint appearance, with Medina publicly ruling out any future meeting between the two.

Latina Television continues to maintain open conversations with both Valcarcel and Pozo as the network prepares its upcoming programming schedule and awaits further announcements regarding both presenters.
