Peruvian parapsychologist and paranormal researcher Félix Rivera Torres, who directed the investigation group Contacto Esotérico, has died at the age of 65.
His family confirmed his death through a statement published on the official social media accounts of Contacto Esotérico, sharing a farewell message that honored his career spanning more than three decades.
In their public message, his family remembered his lifelong passion for the unknown, noting that he dedicated much of his life to studying and sharing knowledge about unexplained phenomena. They also highlighted his contributions to various television and film projects focused on the paranormal world.
Rivera Torres was one of the central figures of Contacto Esotérico, an organization dedicated to examining reported supernatural events and esoteric subjects. Parapsychology is the field of study concerned with investigating alleged psychic abilities, ghost sightings, and other unexplained occurrences.
The researcher conducted his investigations alongside members of his own family. Together, the team carried out field studies across multiple locations, later presenting their findings and evidence through news media outlets, interviews, and digital broadcasts.
Investigating the haunted house of Rímac
Among the most prominent cases investigated by Rivera Torres was the inquiry into a reported haunted house in Rímac, a historic district located in the Lima metropolitan area of Peru.
In 2010, Rivera Torres and his family members visited the quinta Santa Rosa property in Rímac to examine allegations of paranormal activity reported by the building's residents. The investigation became one of the group's most widely recognized public cases.
Following the quinta Santa Rosa case, Rivera Torres appeared frequently in television broadcasts and news interviews. During these appearances, he detailed his field methods and discussed other sites that his research indicated were locations of paranormal activity.
Tributes from collaborators and media creators
Following the news of his death, several digital content creators and entertainment figures who had worked alongside the researcher expressed their condolences publicly.
Content creator IOA, who produced multiple video projects on paranormal topics with Rivera Torres, reflected on the professional relationship they built after first meeting in 2019.
IOA stated that he would always carry Rivera Torres in his heart, adding that the affection and trust the researcher showed him since 2019 would remain permanently reflected in every video they recorded together. He also confirmed that his team intends to proceed with several collaborative projects originally planned alongside Rivera Torres.
Seer and spiritual practitioner Carmen Briceño also paid tribute to the late investigator, emphasizing his lengthy career in parapsychology. Briceño stated that she had the privilege of knowing him and regarding him as a close friend, adding that she had always felt deep admiration for his work.
Podcast presenter Jorge Talavera, host of the paranormal interview show Confesiones Pódcast, extended his condolences to the family of Rivera Torres. Talavera, who conducted an interview with Rivera Torres on his podcast in 2024, highlighted the personal warmth and fond affection he maintained for the investigator.
