Epi Kolono Theatre in Athens is transforming its courtyard into an open-air cinema to screen seven films through September following strong public interest.
Artistic collective Nama Group is organizing the outdoor screenings beneath the shade of the courtyard plane tree following the success of its inaugural movie nights in the summer of 2025. Organizers said the expanded program aims to offer an accessible cultural option in the Greek capital, with admission set at a symbolic price of 4 euros per ticket.
Nama Group stated that its creative activities are not limited to theatrical production. Over the years, the group has organized visual art exhibitions, musical events, project presentations, and multi-disciplinary artistic performances alongside its stage plays.
Expanded film selection and ticket details
Organizers said the 2026 film selection features acclaimed movies that have made a lasting mark on cinema history, chosen for their directorial vision, aesthetic quality, and enduring value. The lineup spans different eras and genres, featuring works by directors Roman Polanski and Tim Burton alongside screen appearances by actors Humphrey Bogart and Johnny Depp.
Tickets for all screenings are priced at 4 euros and are available online through the ticketing platform more.com. All evening screenings are scheduled to start at 21:00 in the theatre courtyard.
Open-air cinema, known locally in Greece as therino sinema, is a long-standing seasonal tradition during the warm summer and autumn months. Epi Kolono Theatre, situated in the Kolonos neighborhood of Athens, is an established independent venue that hosts contemporary theatrical works and community arts initiatives.
