Stefanos Kasselakis Launches TV Spot in Syntagma Square

Stefanos Kasselakis has launched a new television campaign spot filmed in Syntagma Square to present the political identity of his party, Democrats - Progressive Center.

The broadcast serves as the party's first organized campaign effort ahead of the next parliamentary elections, where Kasselakis said Democrats - Progressive Center plan to make an independent run. Three slogans dominate the video: politics with culture, your life our center, and an open embrace for every citizen.

The party aims to use these core messages to build an image centered on public participation, credibility, and a clear break from traditional party practices. The advertisement opens by asking viewers whether citizens are still searching for a party to vote for, or whether they now question if any political group is worth trusting.

Campaign platform and party structure

Addressing that lack of public trust, Kasselakis framed his party as a distinct alternative grounded in direct accountability to voters. He placed particular emphasis on internal party democracy, stating that major decisions pass directly through the organization's roughly 30,000 members.

To differentiate his movement from the established political system, Kasselakis emphasized that all party proposals are fully costed before release. He added that the party carries no political or financial dependencies from the past, stating that Democrats have no IOUs to pay off to anyone.

Kasselakis outlined four primary characteristics defining the party's political identity, describing the organization as modern, trustworthy, authentic, and disruptive. Under this framework, he said citizens should not simply be expected to believe party promises, but should be given the means to audit and verify them.

Background and political positioning

The concept of politics with culture is promoted in the video as a direct response to rising political tension and personal toxicity in Greek public debate. Kasselakis positions the party firmly within the progressive and liberal center of Greek politics.

Syntagma Square, where the commercial was recorded, is the central public square of Athens located directly in front of the Greek parliament building. Kasselakis previously served as leader of the main opposition left-wing party Syriza before breaking away to form his own political group.

The movement was originally established under the name Movement for Democracy before being renamed Democrats - Progressive Center at the start of 2026. The new television campaign marks the formal beginning of the party's national push to build a broader campaign narrative ahead of the upcoming legislative vote.
