Rapper Kanye West confirmed this Thursday in an interview with the ABC network that he still maintains his interest in holding political office, after running for the US presidential election in 2020 with a failed candidacy that was only valid in a handful of states.
During a conversation broadcast on ABC, West (also known as Ye) confirmed his political aspirations while apologizing to his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, for the “stress” it may have caused.
“She is the mother of my children and I apologize for any stress I may have caused her. (…) I need her to be as stress-free and in the best frame of mind as possible so she can raise those kids.“, declared the rapper.
When talking about his future, and asked by Linsey Davis about his intention to participate in political life after the 2020 presidential campaign, West responded that he “absolutely” holds to that aspiration.
In 2020, in the midst of an electoral contest between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, The author of ‘Yeezus’ launched a surreal campaign for the US presidency in which he only appeared on the ballot in a handful of states by missing registration deadlines in most territories.
West, 42, spent more than $13.2 million, of which almost 12.5 million came out of his own pocket as reported by People magazine, to appear only at voting centers in Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Vermont.
“It was not the right time for God,” the rapper, who on multiple occasions he made reference to his deep religious beliefs.
West’s latest stage has been marked by erratic behavior. Among his latest scandals, an investigation by the Los Angeles Police stands out for a crime of assault after a fight with a follower. Also, after his divorce from Kim Kardashian, the rapper spent weeks making comments against the famous and her partner at the timePete Davidson, also summarized in a song.
