Controversy in Produce due to productive diversification and internal meritocracy

former ministers of Ministry of Production (Produce) published yesterday, Monday, January 17, a statement in which they express their concern about changes in officials in key positions in said portfolio.

“We express our deep concern about the actions of the current management of the Ministry of Production, which in recent weeks has begun a process of weakening the institutional framework, carrying out changes in key positions, which responds to needs unrelated to meritocracy. “, He says.

Likewise, they indicated that these changes risk the progress in the implementation of productive policies that are vital for economic recovery. These changes would have been made in the Technological Institute of Production (ITP), its network of Centers for Productive Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITE) and Proinnóvate.

The pronouncement was signed by Rocío Barios Alvarado, Piero Ghezzi Solís, José Salardi Rodriguez, José Luis Chicoma Lucar, Raúl Pérez Reyes Espejo and Gladys Triveño Chanjan.

Given this situation, the current management of Produce, directed by Minister Jorge Luis Prado Palomino, today published a press release where they reject the statements of the former ministers. In addition, they indicate that from their portfolio they promote technological innovation.

“It is false and tendentious to affirm that the intention is to weaken the institutional framework, productive diversification and technological innovation, to the detriment of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. All the momentum and importance that they require is being given so that the benefits of technological innovation and the diversification of credits and external financing reach the less favored sectors of the population”, they affirm.

They also reported that the current management maintains a continuous dialogue with the various productive sectors and that, in addition, they respect meritocracy. They also indicated that the changes they have made are due to giving greater dynamism to certain directions.

“Regarding meritocracy, the profile and professional career of the experts who work in the sector are respected and supported. If there have been some readjustments in positions of trust, they are due to the need to give more dynamics to certain directions that do not respond adequately to the expectations of the productive sector to which they owe their services”, they say.
