Federal deputy and Senate pre-candidate Bia Kicis (PL-DF) said on Saturday that Michelle Bolsonaro will indeed run for the Senate in this year's elections.
The former first lady has kept the question publicly open and has not yet confirmed her candidacy. A statement from Michelle is expected by Sunday, August 2, when the PL party's district convention takes place.
Kicis made the comments at the launch event for her own pre-candidacy, which is expected to be ratified the following day. Michelle Bolsonaro had been expected to attend but, according to Kicis, was at the hospital for medical exams.
Kicis names the ticket
Kicis said the doubt and mystery were over, and that she, Michelle Bolsonaro and Celina Leao would walk together as the biggest ticket the Federal District had ever seen, made by determined women who would get there.
Kicis is one of the Bolsonaro family's main allies in the Chamber of Deputies. She has indicated that, if elected to the Senate, she would support the impeachment of certain Supreme Court justices.
Also present were PL national president Valdemar da Costa Neto, Federal District governor Celina Leao (PP-DF), senator Izalci Lucas (PL-DF) and federal deputy Alberto Fraga (PL-DF). Leao said she also received a phone call from Michelle informing her of the Senate candidacy. Costa Neto said it was them against their opponents, and that they would bring down the people currently in power.
