Russian physician and television presenter Alexander Myasnikov has suffered severe back injuries after falling onto stones in two separate accidents. Writing on his Telegram channel, the doctor revealed that he was left covered in bruises following the double fall.
Myasnikov explained that he suffered two hard falls onto rocks in quick succession, falling first off a quad bike and then off a horse that went down with him. The accidents left his entire back covered in a single massive bruise, causing severe pain that left him unable to either sit down or stand up.
Following the accidents, the physician applied a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, to his back to help manage the discomfort. However, he reported that the medication triggered a sharp surge in his blood pressure because anti-inflammatory drugs cause significant fluid retention in the body.
To bring his elevated readings back to normal levels, Myasnikov had to alter his regular hypertension medication schedule. Describing the experience to his followers, the doctor issued a warning urging anyone with high blood pressure to exercise caution when using NSAID treatments.
Blood pressure risks and NSAID usage
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are widely prescribed and available over the counter to alleviate pain, swelling, and joint stiffness. Medical reference works note that NSAIDs can restrict renal blood flow and promote sodium and water retention, which frequently leads to increased blood pressure and can impair the effectiveness of antihypertensive therapies.
Cardiovascular health guidelines emphasize that patients managing chronic high blood pressure should carefully monitor their readings when introducing anti-inflammatory medications and consult healthcare providers to prevent adverse drug interactions.

Myasnikov is a well known medical figure and author in Russia, widely recognized for hosting national health television programmes and providing public medical advice. He frequently uses his Telegram channel to broadcast health recommendations, discuss medical cases, and share personal anecdotes.
The recent accidents are not the first time the doctor has recounted a frightening outdoor encounter. Myasnikov previously recalled an incident in the taiga where he was forced to spend an entire night perched up a tree after being frightened by bears.
