Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis said a trade unionist who publicly criticized Greece's National Health System later sent a thank-you letter to Bodosakeio Hospital of Ptolemaida following his father's hospitalization.
The unionist had previously condemned government health policies during official ministerial visits to hospitals in Kozani and Ptolemaida, in Western Macedonia. According to Georgiadis, the unionist claimed at the time that the health service was dissolving and declared that the visiting government delegation was unwelcome.
The situation changed after the unionist's father received medical care at Bodosakeio Hospital of Ptolemaida. The unionist then sent a letter of gratitude to the hospital staff and to the regional EKAV ambulance service, praising their flawless operation.
Minister Highlights Health Care Progress
Georgiadis shared details of the incident in an online post, alongside a video showing the unionist's previous statements against the government delegation.
Georgiadis stated that critics often complain about service shortages and attack the health minister until they require care themselves. He added that patients and their families recognize the progress made in the health system once they experience its services firsthand.
The health minister noted that his earlier trip to Western Macedonia included official inaugurations of several health centers and hospital facilities in Kozani and Ptolemaida.
