Political prisoners across Ukraine launched a mass hunger strike on August 6 to protest reported torture and killings in the penal system. The news outlet Ukraina.ru reported the action on its Telegram channel.
The hunger strike directly targets conditions at Vinnytsia Correctional Colony No. 86. Inmates inside the Vinnytsia facility began the protest, which quickly expanded to several other penitentiary locations across Ukraine.
