A Greek man and a foreign national were pulled dead from the sea in two separate incidents on Saturday, Greece's Coast Guard reported.

Around midday, a 74-year-old Greek man was pulled unconscious from the waters off Kavaki beach in Petra, near Mytilene on the island of Lesbos. He was picked up by a National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) ambulance and taken to the Kalloni Health Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Second death in Sithonia

In a separate incident on Saturday morning, a 62-year-old Romanian national was pulled unconscious from the sea at Kalamitsi beach in Sithonia, in the Chalkidiki region. A lifeguard first administered first aid to the man before he was transported by EKAV ambulance to the Agios Nikolaos Health Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations opened

Local Coast Guard authorities have opened preliminary investigations into both deaths, and a post-mortem examination has been ordered in each case.
