Sales of network and wireless chargers in Russia have grown at a record. This is stated in the report “M.Video-Eldorado”, which was at the disposal of the editorial board of “Lenta.ru”.
According to the retailer, in the nine months of 2021, Russian consumers bought 4.5 million devices for charging, worth about five billion rubles. As representatives of the company noted, this is more than last year’s indicators by almost 50 percent in terms of quantity and 2.5 times more in terms of money.
The average check in this segment was 1.1 thousand rubles. It also turned out that the popularity of chargers costing more than 1.5 thousand rubles and a capacity of 18 watts and more is growing. The demand for wireless chargers has grown by a third in pieces and by 90 percent in money, reaching 350 thousand devices and 1.2 billion rubles.
It follows from the report that the smartphone market in January-September 2021 in physical terms amounted to about 21.5 million gadgets. Based on this, analysts concluded that a charger is purchased for almost every fourth device.
“The increased interest in network chargers is associated with the desire of smartphone users for a more powerful accessory that will help charge the device faster than usual,” said Ekaterina Dityatkina, head of the Digital Technology Accessories department.
In recent years, smartphone manufacturers have refused to bundle their devices with charging adapters. One of the first to take such a step was Apple, which in October 2020 introduced the iPhone 12, which does not have a charger in the kit.
