Amazon Prime Video has not yet confirmed a second season of youth drama series Sterling Point, created by Megan Park. However, the eight-episode first season finale leaves unresolved mysteries and storyline setups for a potential continuation.
The show begins when 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, played by Ella Rubin, lives in New York with her twin brother Connor, played by Keen Ruffalo, and their adoptive father Steven Jacobson, played by Jay Duplass. After being rejected from the Wharton School summer program, Annie discovers that her late grandfather left her an island in Canada. She travels there hoping to learn about the past of her late mother, Goldie.
On the island, Annie meets Ramona Campbell, played by Amélie Hoeferle, who looks extraordinarily like Goldie. Annie learns that Ramona is Goldie's biological daughter, raised by their grandfather Gordon. Although Ramona initially rejects her, Annie stays in a cabin to understand her origins and makes life-changing friends.
Unresolved Mysteries In Season Finale
The first season reveals Goldie's true background and identifies Ramona's real father. In the finale, Annie chooses not to sell the island and remains there to connect with her roots. Meanwhile, Ramona learns the truth about her biological father and moves to New York, ending her romantic relationship with Oona, played by Bo Bragason.
Connor also investigates his origins after receiving a phone call in the final episode. The call opens the possibility of a meeting with the twin siblings' real biological mother, which could serve as the central mystery for a second season.
Creator And Cast On Potential Season 2
In an interview with Deadline, Park said Annie and Ramona completely swapped their locations and their perspectives on what the island meant to them. Park said this swap was an interesting and necessary conclusion that leaves the show with an excellent starting point if Amazon approves a second season.
Speaking to Today, Rubin said she did not know what would happen next because Annie's story could take many directions. Rubin said the uncertainty was exciting and made her nervous because the character had become like a friend. She added that she hoped Annie and Ramona were happy with their choices and that a second season would bring more fun conflicts.
