Xavi dreams of Barcelona and says he is looking forward to the Cup

Former Barcelona captain and current Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernández gave an interview to 20 minutes and talked about his experience in Qatar and ambitions as a coach.

“First of all, I must say that I am very proud to coach Al-Sadd. It is not only a great club in Qatar, but also in the whole of Asia. Our objective is to win titles and compete in the Champions League here. It is the beginning. I’m starting. But my idea is to coach Barcelona. I never hid it, it’s my goal and my dream. I don’t know if it will happen or not, if they’ll need me or not. If there’s an offer, it will be evaluated and then we will try to decide, but at the moment I am very happy here”, he declared.

About life in Qatar, he highlighted the affection and respect he receives from everyone at the club. “I believe my relationship with them will be forever. I feel very valued and this is not forgotten. I am a grateful person and I believe that Qatar has helped me and my family in many ways. It’s a relationship that will last forever,” said the former player.

About the World Cup in Qatar, Xavi said it will be “historic” and people will be “very surprised by the way the country is and because of the infrastructure”.

“It is a completely new country that has been preparing to host this Cup for over 10 years. People will leave with a very positive opinion of the country. Many people have a preconceived idea about Arab culture, but when you come here and see it firsthand, it’s totally different. I invite people to come see for themselves. Qatar had a lot of time to prepare and I know that the people here are very excited to host this World Cup”, he concluded.
