Belgian Marc Brys is the new coach of the national team Cameroon, the country’s Sports Minister announced in a statement published this Tuesday, in which the duration of the contract was not disclosed. The 61-year-old coach will have Cameroonian football legend François Omam Biyik as his assistant.
Brys arrives to replace Rigobert Song, whose contract, which ended in February, was not renewed by the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o.

The coach managed clubs in Belgium for most of his career, but also worked in the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia. The Cameroon team was eliminated in the round of 16 of the last African Cup of Nations (CAN), in January, by Nigeria.
The new coach will have the mission of classifying the team for the next edition of CAN, in 2025, and for the 2026 World Cup.
