Great information before P¦ in jumping! Klingenthal is magical again for Poles?

In eleven years, since the competition is held almost every season, Poles stood here on the podium seven times, winning four times – twice as a team and twice individually. Now the balance of players in the current season of the World Cup seems to be more important – no podium places and only two in the top ten, both by Kamil Stoch. But maybe the Vogtland Arena is the best place to break through?

Great news before the WC in Klingenthal! The weather won’t bother you all weekend

Especially that the ski jumpers are not to be disturbed by the weather throughout the weekend. The worst day in terms of conditions is behind the organizers of the competition in Klingenthal, where the jumpers competed on Thursday. After the sky-high 140-meter jump, they were won by Marita Kramer, born in the Netherlands, and representing Austria, and one Pole, the 24th, who gained 112.5 meters, was promoted to the Friday competition, which was scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

The conditions on Thursday were difficult – it was snowing and blowing all day on the hill: from 1.3 meters per second behind the hill, up to 1.47 meters per second for skis. During qualifying, you had to be lucky to get to the places where the wind was helping the players. – It will pass though. There is no threat to the performance of the competitions, because in the following days only a slight wind from the west side of the hill is expected. That’s not a problem, says Alexander Ziron, the secretary general of the organizing committee of the Klingenthal competition.

– There was some snow on Thursday and last week. On the landing hill, however, we only laid the generated snow, of which we had about three thousand cubic meters. But the natural one, which had increased by nearly 10-15 centimeters, perfectly covered the part that could already have frozen. The hill is therefore well prepared. We hope the competitions will go well – he adds. According to forecasts, it is expected to blow up to 1.5 meters per second on Friday and Saturday, and up to a maximum of four on Sunday, but the situation should not get out of the control of the organizers and the jury.

A magical place for Polish jumpers. Four victories, great team moments, and now a breakout?

Therefore, there will be no competition as in 2013, when Krzysztof Biegun won the lottery during the inauguration of the World Cup series, and Anders Bardal and resigned from the jump in the one-series competition. – It’s definitely a bad memory. I also remember that we had some problems in 2007 when we had to stop all activities on the hill for six hours. Ultimately, the competition was held in the evening and the level was pretty good, says Ziron, recalling the competition where he finished third there.

And it was the beginning of great successes of Polish jumpers at the Vogtland Arena. Now they can think of this place as magical. Ma³ysz was there for the second time in 2010, and a year later Kamil Stoch won his first foreign competition in his career. In 2013, the aforementioned Krzysztof Biegun recorded his only career victory here. Three years later, however, came a historic success – the first team victory of Poles in the history of the World Cup. In 2019, Michal Doleżal also made his debut triumph here. The last season, on the other hand, brought a second place, which, if he had won again, ten years after his previous victory, would have become the best player in the history of the World Cup in Klingenthal.

Therefore, there are reasons to be optimistic and to point out that historically Klingenthal fits very well with the happy moments of Polish ski jumpers. Maybe it will break one of the worst series of weaker results in recent years? Only four players went to Germany: Kamil Stoch, Aleksander Zniszczoł and Paweł Wąsek. The rest train in Ramsau and jump in the Continental Cup in Vikersund. Only these four, according to the coaching staff, can count on a good result in the face of the worse disposition of the entire staff.

Stoch is close to taking places around the top ten competitions to jump to the top. U ¯yły started to appear repeated trials for at least solid points, and the jumper himself assured that he has a plan for even better results. Destroyer and Wąsek jump as best they can – one of them scores, the other does not fall out of the top 40, which is a good result for him. So there are grounds for achieving a good result in Klingenthal and building something on it. Since this is a magical place for Poles, let Kamil Stoch find the missing element, which he mentioned in Wisła, and the rest of the competitors will jump at least partially at the level of their potential.

At the Vogtland Arena, a record that has not been broken for a decade, and you can jump up to 155 meters!

Klingenthal is one of the few hills in the World Cup calendar with such an old, still unbeatable hill record. It was established ten years ago by Michael Uhrmann. The German gained 146.5 meters, although in the Continental Cup or Summer Grand Prix competitions the jumpers jumped here even up to 149 meters. And it can go even further. – I remember one training session from a few years ago. Then Andreas Kofler stopped the incredible 155 meters jump here – remembers Alexander Ziron.

And he probably hopes that this weekend the competition will be on a great, if not so crazy level. Official training is planned for Friday, which will start at 17:15 and qualifying at 19:00. On Saturday and Sunday there will be two individual competitions, both at 4:00 PM. Live coverage on Sport.pl and in the Sport.pl LIVE application.
