Historic player, Lionel Messi was honored by the Argentine Football Association this Saturday morning. The federation named the Training Center, the Housing Complex of Ezeiza for Building Deportivo – Lionel Andrés Messi, in Ezeiza, city of Buenos Aires.
The decision was made official by the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia, at an event held at the Ezeiza Building in the presence of presidents, figures and personalities from the men’s and women’s professional leagues, football players from those institutions, and Messi’s former teammates in the Argentine national team.
The new complex will be functional and promises to optimize the work that has been carried out for years under the National Teams Project.
“In 2017 we had to start refounding Argentine football, and what we had to refound was building management, and we found ourselves with this building that wasn’t closed, with unfinished projects. Today we know what it’s for, we started with the internal closure , external structures… without a doubt it will be the new home of our National Teams”, declared the president of the AFA.

Claudio Tapia also described how the structure of the training center will be, which will have an auditorium with capacity for 360 people.
Lionel Messi and his teammates, current world champions, were given an intense ovation on the Albiceleste’s return to the pitch after the long-awaited World Cup victory. In the friendly against Panama, the players were moved on the field with the tributes received from the fans, who filled the stadium to see the 2-0 victory.
The captain and shirt number 10 of the selection commanded by Scaloni thanked the tribute made. “I’m very sorry and happy that after so long this will carry my name. I’m one of those people who think that tributes have to be paid in life, and I think this is a very special recognition for everything that this property means, for the amount of players that pass through here. Passing by and knowing that it will carry my name is something very nice”, he declared.
