Venezuela's earthquake death toll has risen to 6,301, according to Jorge Rodríguez, president of the country's National Assembly.
The victims died in two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, that struck Venezuela on June 24 just seconds apart, causing widespread destruction.
The previous official toll, given last Monday, August 10, 2026, also stood at 6,301 dead, Rodríguez said.
More than 73,000 injured people have received hospital treatment, and 23% of the rubble has been cleared from the affected areas, according to figures released by the parliament president.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has promised that 4,000 new homes will be delivered to earthquake survivors within the year, with another 10,000 to follow in 2027.
