Lawyer Ponomarev said that Ivan Fedotov did not have a military ID before being drafted into the army
Alexei Ponomarev, a lawyer for Russian hockey goalie Ivan Fedotov, denied the information that the player bought a military ID. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“To date, the investigating authorities have no claims on this issue. Before Fedotov was sent to the ranks of the armed forces, he did not have a military ID. Therefore, all this information is not true, ”Ponomarev said. He also noted that during the period of 2017, which is discussed in the media, the goalkeeper had a reprieve from the army, as he was a student.
Earlier it was reported that Fedotov could buy a military ticket through the former police officer Farit Samigullin. The hockey player allegedly transferred money to him in a banking application.
The goalkeeper of the Russian national team was detained on July 1 for evading service. The situation developed against the backdrop of Fedotov’s signing a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Previously, he defended the colors of the capital’s CSKA, with which he won the Gagarin Cup.
