“He has the quality to lead the national team”, says Rivaldo about former teammate Luis Enrique

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is looking for a coach to replace Tite in charge of the Brazilian national team. The Brazilian’s work under the command of the Selection ended after the World Cup in Qatar. World champion Rivaldo commented on the future coach of Brazil, who is quoted as one of his colleagues from Barcelona in 1999, the former coach of the Spanish national team and Barcelona, Luis Enrique.

“Much has been said that the CBF is looking to hire Luis Enrique, with whom I had a good relationship at Barcelona. As a player, he was an example of dedication and determination on and off the field, and that type of personality can be important. to get the most out of each Brazilian player,” he declared in an interview with Betfair.

Luis Enrique, who was Rivaldo’s teammate at Barcelona, managed the Spanish national team in the World Cup in Qatar, but was eliminated early against Morocco, still in the round of 16. Between 2014 and 2017 he was in charge of Barcelona

“As a coach, I haven’t followed his career closely, but whoever wins what he won at Barcelona makes it clear that he has the quality to lead the national team,” said Rivaldo.

Finally, the former player analyzed the work done by Tite in the six years he has been in charge of the national team. The Brazilian coach took over the team in 2016, having played in two World Cups, the 2018, in Russia, and the 2022, in Qatar.

“Tite’s six-year period in charge of the Brazilian national team has come to an end, in my opinion, I consider Tite a great coach, one of the best of this generation of coaches. Tite had a good average of victories in the Qualifiers and Copa America, but that wasn’t enough to satisfy the Brazilian fans,” he concluded.

CBF’s search for Tite’s successor

As reported by Sports Gazette in mid-December of last year, the CBF’s plan A for the position is to be able to count on a foreign coach from the first shelf of world football.

Before the name of Luis Enrique as Tite’s successor was aired, other foreigners had already been considered, such as the Spaniard Pep Guardiola, from Manchester City, and Carlo Ancelotti, from Real Madrid. The latter, however, cooled the possibility of directing Amarelinha.

The next commitment of the Selection is scheduled to take place in March 2023, on the FIFA date set between the 20th and 28th.
