Ural journalist Alexander Rodionov has died in the special military operation zone in Ukraine, according to his sister Irina Suslova.

Suslova wrote on her VKontakte page that Rodionov died last August while completing a mission during the military operation. She said the family only learned of his death now.
Since the military operation began, Rodionov received the medals For Courage and For Bravery, as well as the Order By Service and Bravery, Suslova reported. A farewell ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 12, at Nizhne-Isetskoye cemetery in Yekaterinburg.
Journalism career and military service
Rodionov studied at the history faculty of a tank artillery school before working as a reporter. He wrote for publications including Kommersant-Ural, FederalPress, and European-Asian News.
In 2013, Rodionov received the Golden Shark award as the best employee of an information agency in the Ural Federal District. He left for the front after the start of the special operation in Ukraine.
