Roborock launched its stair-climbing Saros Rover robotic vacuum cleaner at the IFA 2026 technology trade show in Berlin, showcasing a device capable of negotiating full staircases.

The presentation at the annual consumer electronics trade fair marks the European debut for the Saros Rover following its global unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Alongside the prototype, the smart appliance manufacturer introduced two commercial models, the Saros 20 Flow Complete and the Saros 20 Neo, engineered to navigate complex domestic environments.
For years, domestic vacuum robots have been halted by interior steps and multi-level floor plans that artificial intelligence, sensors, and increased suction power could not overcome. Standard operation required users to physically lift and carry units between rooms or floors when encountering steep drops or staircases.
Legged mobility and stair navigation
The Saros Rover addresses multi-floor movement by replacing traditional robotic vacuum layouts with a hybrid leg and wheel architecture. Its legs raise and lower independently, allowing the machine to alter its posture to clear physical obstacles and climb inclines.
Using integrated motion sensors and three-dimensional spatial data, the Saros Rover interprets height variations across a dwelling to travel between floors. The system is designed to transition between stories while cleaning each step individually, removing the need for manual intervention on stairs.
Roborock stated that the technological focus of domestic robotics is expanding beyond suction performance to physical accessibility, enabling machines to adapt to house structures rather than requiring homes to be modified for robots.
Saros 20 Flow Complete specifications
The Saros 20 Flow Complete updates traditional robotic vacuum architecture with an ultra-thin chassis measuring 8.98 centimeters in height, allowing access beneath low furniture. It incorporates an AdaptiLift Traverse 3.0 system that modifies chassis height to clear uneven surfaces and thresholds up to 8.8 centimeters high.
Cleaning capability relies on a suction system generating 36,000 Pascals of pressure combined with RetractSense LiDAR laser navigation to create detailed environment maps. A Reactive AI system identifies more than 300 categories of household obstacles and items that could impede movement.
Mopping functionality is handled by a SpiraFlow 2.0 roller mop applying up to 15 Newtons of downward pressure at 240 revolutions per minute, supported by 16 pressurized water jets to clear stubborn stains in a single pass. Dual side brushes with arc elevation extend sweeping coverage along walls and around corners, while an automated base station washes the mop with water at 100 degrees Celsius and dispenses detergent automatically.
Saros 20 Neo architectural features
The Saros 20 Neo is tailored for architecturally complex homes with multi-level thresholds. Featuring an AdaptiLift 3.0 system, the unit can cross double-layer thresholds of up to 8.8 centimeters while maintaining a reduced clearance height of 7.95 centimeters to reach tight spaces under furniture.
The model provides 36,000 Pascals of HyperForce suction power and includes a dual anti-tangle system to prevent hair from winding around the main brushes. Its mopping module applies up to 14 Newtons of pressure using hot water, with mop cleaning performed by its docking station at 100 degrees Celsius.
According to Roborock, the battery built into the Saros 20 Neo supports continuous cleaning over floor areas of up to nearly 350 square meters without requiring a recharge break.
Certified allergen reduction and indoor health
Both the Saros series and the F25 series have received official Allergy-friendly certification from ECARF, the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation. The certification focuses on how cleaning equipment manages indoor air quality and environmental conditions, an issue of interest in Spain where over one million people suffer from allergies and asthma.
