Rangi Moore, 26, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm after an alleged one-punch attack knocked a man unconscious in Coogee on Saturday night. Emergency services were called to the Sydney beachside suburb at about 11pm following reports of an assault on Coogee Bay Road.

CCTV footage captured two men talking and sharing an embrace after leaving a nearby venue. Tensions escalated moments later when one man slapped and punched the other, who fell backwards onto the ground.

Shocked bystanders rushed to the injured man's aid. A woman was heard yelling, "Call an ambulance," as other bystanders rolled the unconscious man onto his side. She then pushed away the alleged attacker as he approached them.

The 41-year-old alleged victim suffered head injuries during the assault. Emergency services rushed him to Prince of Wales Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Arrest and bail conditions

Police arrested Moore at the scene, and he spent the night in custody. He faced court on Sunday, where his lawyer claimed that Moore had acted in self-defence.

Moore was granted bail to reappear in court at a later date. Under his strict bail conditions, he must comply with a curfew and is banned from using drugs or alcohol.
