Peru Judiciary Raises Staff Salaries up to 15,600 Soles

Peru's Judiciary staff under Legislative Decree 728 will receive a new salary scale raising monthly pay up to 15,600 soles starting September 1.

The pay adjustment was approved by President Keiko Sofia Fujimori Higuchi and Minister of Economy and Finance Elmer Rafael Cuba Bustinza, following a formal proposal from the Judiciary leadership.

The new salary framework was officially enacted through Supreme Decree 162-2026-EF and published in an extraordinary edition of the Legal Norms section of the official gazette El Peruano. It applies specifically to jurisdictional and administrative personnel employed under Legislative Decree 728, a legal framework that governs formal contractual employment in Peru's public and private sectors.

New salary structure breakdown

Under the newly authorized schedule, monthly compensation spans from 4,100 soles for entry-level auxiliary positions to 15,600 soles for top executive roles. The Judiciary operates as Peru's independent judicial branch, overseeing courts and legal proceedings across the country.

At the executive level, the decree sets monthly salaries at 15,600 soles for Directivo 3, 14,750 soles for Directivo 2, and 11,860 soles for Directivo 1.

Professional positions are structured across three tiers, with monthly pay set at 9,670 soles for Profesional 3, 7,880 soles for Profesional 2, and 6,620 soles for Profesional 1.

Technical staff will receive monthly salaries of 5,660 soles for Tecnico 3, 5,020 soles for Tecnico 2, and 4,580 soles for Tecnico 1. Auxiliary staff at the Auxiliar 1 grade will receive 4,100 soles per month.

Decree conditions and rules

The regulation consolidates previous pay increases granted under Supreme Decrees 311-2022-EF, 313-2023-EF, 265-2024-EF, 279-2024-EF, and 327-2025-EF. These earlier wage adjustments are registered in the state's Centralized Registry of Payrolls and Public Sector Human Resources Data application.

According to the decree, 40 percent of the new income scale for eligible jurisdictional and administrative workers is subject to social security deductions and counts toward pension calculations.

The government order explicitly forbids covered personnel from receiving any other salary, bonus, allowance, incentive, or financial compensation beyond the legally approved scale, under administrative liability.

The single exceptions allowed are Compensation for Time of Service, a statutory benefit serving as severance coverage in Peru, statutory family allowances, and future benefits negotiated under Law 31188, the state collective bargaining law. Funding for the entire salary structure will be covered directly by the Judiciary's institutional budget.

Judiciary leadership reaction

Janet Tello Gilardi, the President of the Judiciary, welcomed the official approval of the updated pay structure.

Tello Gilardi said the salary scale represents an important recognition of the administrative and jurisdictional personnel whose work maintains the operations of Peru's justice system.
