The National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) has created the Institute of World Military Economics and Strategy on the basis of the Faculty of World Economics and Politics, reports the HSE news service. The unit will study the Russian economy and nuclear weapons in the context of a “global war with the West,” said the director of the Institute, retired admiral Sergei Avakyants.
According to him, the ideological inspirer of the project was the scientific director of the Faculty of World Economics and Politics at the Higher School of Economics, Sergei Karaganov. According to Avakyants, such a division is necessary for the university against the backdrop of growing disagreements between the Russian Federation and the “collective West” led by the United States. At the same time, the institute’s activities will be aimed at studying the processes of building “multipolarity”, as well as the effectiveness of nuclear deterrence, since “the new situation requires new approaches,” the director of the new structure specified.
In addition, the Institute will study the features of the development of the “world majority”. However, the HSE still finds it difficult to give an exact definition of this term.
Let us remember that Sergei Avakyants was the commander of the Pacific Fleet from 2010 to 2023. Then the military leader went to work at the Higher School of Economics at the invitation of Karaganov.
