North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, says she plans to get a job at Starbucks next year despite her rising career as a musician.
"I still wanna work. I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year," West told Dazed in an interview published Aug. 24. "I think I can next year 'cause I'm gonna be 14, so... I think I can."
Asked why, she kept it simple: "I want to have a regular job."
West made clear she has no plans to give up music while she works toward that goal, and she pushed back on the idea that she should wait until she's older to pursue it. "It's like, nah, this is my hobby," she said, "this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life."
North West's Music Career
West released her debut EP, N0rth4vr, on May 1, and put out the music video for her song "Aishite" on Aug. 7. In June, she made her first solo music festival performance, at Summer Smash.
"I wish I'd done it earlier, though," she said of the experience. "I've been ready."
She said her other creative pursuits, including painting, have taken a back seat. "I was really into painting sunsets," she said. "I paint for fun sometimes, but the paint I use always gets on my hands... like oil paints. So it's not easy to take off."
Life Outside Music
Despite growing up in the public eye, West said she spends time on TikTok and Pinterest like other people her age, particularly to "make moodboards for my nails and my hair." When she can't find what she wants on Pinterest, she improvises. "I just be making it up," she said. "I gotta draw it too, 'cause there's nothing on Pinterest. I can't find what I really want for real."

- Jennifer Stone: The Wizards of Waverly Place actress became a registered nurse in 2019 and joined healthcare workers on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Ross Bagley: The former child star of The Little Rascals and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air now works as a real estate agent in Los Angeles.
- Jeff Cohen: He played Chunk in The Goonies and quit acting to become an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles.
