North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan on Wednesday, its second such launch in less than a week.

North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan on Wednesday, according to the Japanese Defense Ministry and the South Korean military.

The launch from the North Korean east coast is the second of its kind conducted by Pyongyang in less than a week.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement it detected the launch of a ballistic missile early in the day. The military said the weapon was fired from the Wonsan region toward the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.
