Actor Nikita Kologrivyy and pop singer Lyusia Chebotina will star as themselves in the sixth season of the sitcom Daddy's Daughters. The casting announcement was reported by news outlet Gazeta.Ru, citing the press service of Russian streaming platform START.
Creators of the television project confirmed that both celebrities will join the cast for the upcoming season, appearing in cameo roles as exaggerated versions of themselves within the show's narrative.
Kologrivyy joked about the audition process, stating that it was difficult to land the role of Kologrivyy because he is an odious and controversial figure. He remarked that he only secured his place in the project through connections. The actor added that he had never expected to appear in Daddy's Daughters, despite having watched and adored the sitcom during his youth.
Season six storyline details
According to plot details released by show creators, wealthy oligarch Vasily Fedotov, portrayed by actor Aleksandr Oleshko, seeks to surprise the youngest daughter of central characters Venik and Dasha. To delight the child, the oligarch arranges for her favorite singer, Lyusia Chebotina, to give a live performance directly inside the Vasilyev family apartment.
The storyline develops further when the young girl writes a script for a fairy tale performance. Rather than casting pop singer Vanya Dmitrienko for the role as the girl hoped, the oligarch instead hires Nikita Kologrivyy, an actor the young girl explicitly dislikes.
Sitcom background and cast
Daddy's Daughters is one of Russia's most popular television sitcoms, originally premiering in 2007 with a story about a family therapist raising five daughters on his own. The revival series, produced for the START streaming service, continues the family comedy by following a new generation within the Vasilyev household.
Kologrivyy gained widespread recognition for his role in the hit drama series Slovo Patsana, also known as The Boy's Word: Blood on the Asphalt, while Chebotina is a prominent pop music artist. Oleshko reprises his long-standing role as Fedotov, a recurring character since the original series.
Previous audition revelations
The announcement comes following earlier disclosures regarding casting changes for the series revival. Russian actress Lyubov Aksyonova recently admitted that she had successfully passed auditions for the role of Masha Vasnetsova in Daddy's Daughters but ultimately lost the part.
Aksyonova, known for her starring roles in the popular television series Major and the superhero film Major Grom, explained that she was removed from the role of Masha Vasnetsova just a few days after being selected by the production team.
