NATO countries will allocate 70 billion euros for training, education, and military equipment programs for Ukraine in 2026, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on Telegram. The military authority noted that the same amount of military assistance is planned for the following year.
Tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops have already completed instruction under the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine program, known as NSATU. The training covers key areas including air defense, medical assistance, and battlefield tactics.
Major General Mike Keller, Deputy Commander of NSATU, said Ukraine now possesses a single support coordination mechanism along with the necessary capabilities and expertise. He stated that this support includes training, maintenance, and equipment provision, which allows Ukrainian forces to focus directly on combat operations. Captain Petter of the Norwegian Armed Forces assured that the alliance will do everything possible to increase the level of soldier training.
NATO Membership and Explosives Production
In related reports, UNIAN noted that columnist Marek Kutarba argued that declining NATO membership would not mark a defeat for Ukraine. He explained that such an outcome could usher in a new balance of power where Ukraine acts as a barrier against Russia while Europe serves as its military rear. Kutarba noted that NATO membership is no longer a matter of survival for Ukraine after more than four years of defensive war, making alliance entry unnecessary in a certain sense.
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that NATO nations are launching at least 24 new projects to produce gunpowder or explosives. Prior to the war in Ukraine, Washington and its allies considered their stockpiles and supply sources sufficient. TNT production will soon start in the United States for the first time in decades, three companies are building TNT plants in Europe, and the United Kingdom plans to complete at least six new explosives factories by 2030.
