A 4-year-old girl who was attacked by a wild animal in a small park outside a tavern in Polichni, Thessaloniki, has returned home. The child was treated at the G. Gennimatas hospital and was discharged today.
The animal involved has not yet been identified. According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, it is suspected to have been a wolf. A meeting of all relevant authorities is expected in the coming days to address the issue and consider measures to keep wild animals away from residential areas.
How the attack unfolded
The incident happened last Thursday night, around 11 p.m. The girl was playing in the outdoor area of the tavern when a jackal suddenly appeared and moved toward her. It bit her on the face, grabbed her by the back, and, according to witness accounts, dragged her for at least five to six meters.
