Several attendees at a concert by Russian rapper Mr. Credo, whose real name is Alexander Makhonin, in Saint Petersburg complained about poor organization of the event, with some unable to enter the venue and others walking out early, news portal 78.ru reported.
According to the outlet, a number of concertgoers left the dance floor at the A2 club just 15 minutes after the show began. One fan, identified only as Darya, said some people holding tickets priced at 4,700 rubles could not even get into the hall because of the crush of people.
Fans describe crowding at the venue
Darya said she and six others had traveled from Ivanovo and wanted to be on the dance floor, but could not get through because people were packed into the corridor. She said around 50 people ended up leaving the hall as a result.
She also said there was no visible security control inside the venue. People were smoking in the toilets, and security staff let in guests carrying bottles hidden in their jackets as well as intoxicated men, according to her account.
Club denies venue was overcrowded
Journalists contacted representatives of the club, who said ticket sales had stayed within normal limits and that the hall had not even been full. The organizers said the presence of free space inside confirmed this, adding that people had been able to stand freely.
Mr. Credo built his reputation as a performer in the early 2000s and remains known in Russia for tracks from that era. The A2 club is a music venue in Saint Petersburg that regularly hosts touring performers.
Previous concert incidents
The report follows an earlier incident in which fans of the band Leningrad were involved in a mass brawl at one of their concerts. Witnesses said audience members in the back rows began pushing and forcing their way toward the stage, disrupting other concertgoers.
