Chinese technology company Mova has unveiled its EVOiX-X1 quadruped security robot dog at the IFA 2026 technology trade show in Berlin.

The four-legged autonomous device is built for territory monitoring, property patrolling, and residential security control, representing a major push by the manufacturer into physical robotics.

Mova positioned the EVOiX-X1 as an advance in embodied artificial intelligence, defining the concept as AI software capable of perceiving surrounding physical environments and interacting with the real world, as reported by LIGA.net news editor Anastasiia Bobkova from the exhibition.

Sensors and autonomous navigation

To maintain spatial awareness, the EVOiX-X1 relies on a 360-degree 3D LiDAR sensor array working alongside a multi-camera artificial intelligence vision system.

The security robot features multi-sensor perception capabilities, which allow it to orient itself in three-dimensional space, detect obstacles in real time, and navigate across complex terrain.

The device operates on a dedicated operating system powered by an onboard AI agent. This software environment is engineered to support seamless interaction and task coordination between the EVOiX-X1 and other robotic devices in the Mova product ecosystem.

Embodied artificial intelligence and hardware

Embodied artificial intelligence represents a shift from purely digital software, like chatbots or virtual assistants, to intelligence integrated into physical bodies like quadruped robots. By combining sensors, physical actuators, and onboard computing, embodied AI systems can independently sense their surroundings and physically respond to changes in their environment.

The 360-degree 3D LiDAR system used by the robot relies on Light Detection and Ranging technology, which emits laser pulses to construct continuous, high-precision spatial maps. Paired with multi-camera AI vision, the sensor suite allows autonomous machines to measure distances, recognize objects, and navigate securely regardless of environmental lighting conditions.

Quadrupedal robot designs have gained widespread use in industrial monitoring, search and rescue, and property security. Unlike wheeled or tracked machinery, four-legged robots use articulated leg joints to climb steps, traverse unpaved terrain, and step around physical obstructions.

Global technology debuts in Berlin

IFA, short for Internationale Funkausstellung, is one of the world's leading trade shows for consumer electronics and home appliances. Held every year in Berlin, Germany, the convention attracts tech manufacturers from across the globe to reveal new consumer hardware, smart home appliances, and robotics innovations.

The unveiling of the EVOiX-X1 took place alongside other major product announcements at IFA 2026. German automaker Volkswagen debuted its new electric ID. Polo model at the exhibition, featuring a front electric drive line offered in three power output variants: 85 kW (116 horsepower), 99 kW (135 horsepower), and 155 kW (211 horsepower).

Tech company Xiaomi also showcased its first wide foldable smartphone during the trade event, adding to the hardware debuts presented on the Berlin floor.
