Moscow restaurant stabbing leaves victim in hospital

A 35-year-old man was hospitalized after being stabbed in the stomach during an argument inside a restaurant on Nikolskaya Street in central Moscow. Officers from the National Guard of the Russian Federation, known as Rosgvardia, detained two men in connection with the knife attack shortly after the incident took place.

According to the main Moscow department of Rosgvardia, the violence erupted following a personal disagreement between patrons inside the dining establishment. Restaurant personnel reported that one of the patrons pulled out a knife during the altercation, plunged it into the victim's abdomen, and immediately attempted to flee the scene alongside a companion.

Emergency services dispatched to the location quickly provided medical attention, transporting the wounded 35-year-old Muscovite to a city hospital for treatment. Law enforcement officers responded rapidly to the emergency call from restaurant staff, apprehending both suspects nearby before they could escape.

The suspects have been identified as a 22-year-old native of Rostov Oblast in southern Russia and a 43-year-old resident of Moscow Oblast. Both individuals were taken into custody and are currently being held at a local police department for questioning as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Restaurant location and security response

Nikolskaya Street is one of the oldest pedestrian thoroughfares in Moscow, connecting Red Square with Lubyanka Square in the heart of the capital. Known for its historical architecture, luxury boutique stores, and busy dining venues, the pedestrian zone attracts heavy foot traffic from both local residents and international visitors throughout the day and night.

The National Guard of the Russian Federation, established in 2016 as an independent executive agency, functions as Russia's internal military force. Its duties include maintaining public order, combating organized crime, and providing quick security responses to violent incidents in public spaces across Russian cities.

The suspects remain in police custody while officers complete their inquiries. The incident follows a separate violent attack reported in Nizhny Novgorod, where local law enforcement officers recently detained a man after he attacked female relatives using a knife and a brick.
