Maria Karystianou Responds to Proto Thema Reports on ELPIDA

Maria Karystianou has responded to media reports published by the website Proto Thema regarding alleged executive departures from Kinima ELPIDA, demanding transparency and political answers. In a social media post, Karystianou addressed coverage by Proto Thema and other media outlets concerning internal developments and resignations within the movement.

Karystianou rejected a recent report by Proto Thema about the alleged departure of an individual framed as a movement official. She stated that the person involved had no participation in the actions of Kinima ELPIDA. She added that the report was republished by media outlets critical of the movement.

Disputes Over Anonymous Statement

According to Karystianou, Proto Thema published a statement attributed to the former press office of Kinima ELPIDA without disclosing who signed it. The movement requested the specific names in writing immediately after the publication, citing a policy against vague claims.

Karystianou stated that Proto Thema failed to provide or publish the names of the signatories. She added that the outlet also refused to publish a comment from a member of the movement political council who publicly asked why the statement remained anonymous.

Questions on Banking and Loans

Karystianou raised concerns over the lack of media coverage for an event held by Kinima ELPIDA on July 26, 2026. The event addressed triangular relationships between banks, servicers, and investment funds. She noted that former members of the movement were conspicuously absent from the gathering.

Following the event, Karystianou questioned why media outlets remain silent on banking practices that have led to home losses for many citizens. She publicly called on Proto Thema and its publisher to disclose the status of their own loan obligations, asking whether the outlet receives favorable terms compared to millions of Greek citizens.

She stated that the public is entitled to know if media outlets maintain impartiality and independence. Karystianou concluded that the truth must come to light regarding why the political system is opposing Kinima ELPIDA.
