Peruvian television host Magaly Medina criticized reality television personality Hugo García on her program after he shared social media posts that coincided with the wedding of his ex-partner, Mafer Neyra, to Ernesto Cabieses.
García posted an Instagram story on Saturday, September 12, with the message "Finally the day arrived. 12.09." Hours later, he wrote on Threads: "Be happy." The timing overlapped with Neyra's wedding, and social media users interpreted the posts as a possible indirect message aimed at her, though García never confirmed this himself.
Medina questions the timing of the posts
On the latest episode of her show, Magaly TV La Firme, Medina, widely known in Peru by her nickname "la Urraca," laid out García's current relationship situation before addressing the controversy. She pointed out that he is now with Venezuelan content creator Isabella Ladera, with whom he recently became a father, and referenced posts Ladera had shared about this new stage of her life, including one stating that postpartum "doesn't last forever."
Medina questioned why García would publish a "Be happy" message on the very day his ex-partner was celebrating her wedding. She said postpartum is, for many women, a stage that comes hand in hand with depression, and asked who exactly the message was meant for. She suggested it may have been directed at Isabella Ladera, but because it landed on the day of Neyra's wedding, the public read it as a message for her instead.
She added that sending an indirect message through social media, knowing that people will dissect it and read into what it might mean, is careless when you have a woman who gave birth only days earlier. She said she found that level of inconsideration hard to accept.

García is a former reality television contestant who built a public profile in Peru through his television appearances before moving into social media content. He and Neyra were previously a couple. Neyra married Cabieses on September 12, a wedding that drew significant attention on Peruvian social media. Medina's program, Magaly TV La Firme, is a long-running entertainment show in Peru known for covering celebrity news and controversy.
The 'like' on a video about lost love
Medina also raised a video that García had liked on social media, one whose theme touched on missing someone who was "the love of your life." She said that gesture, combined with the message he posted on the day of Neyra's wedding, fed speculation that he regretted his past relationship, although this has also not been confirmed by García.
She said it was difficult to understand how he could put a heart on a video like that while his partner was nearly experiencing postpartum depression while raising their child. She described it as another example of a lack of sensitivity and empathy on García's part.
García has not publicly responded to Medina's comments or clarified who his social media posts were directed at.
