Collins shared photographs from their wedding and wrote about the support and love that define their relationship. She also paid tribute to the couple's daughter, Tove, whom she called the greatest blessing of their lives.
A Message of Gratitude
In the post marking the anniversary, Collins said that five years earlier that day she had married her favorite person and best friend. She said that for half a decade the two of them had supported each other, made each other laugh, faced whatever came their way, lived through new adventures and built a life that was uniquely their own. She added that through all the changes their shared journey had brought, they had continued to grow and create a life they loved.
The actress said she was grateful for the way McDowell had always believed in her, listened to her and made her feel she never had to face anything alone.
Their Daughter Tove
Collins and McDowell had their daughter, Tove, through a surrogate mother. In her post, Collins described Tove as their biggest little blessing and the sweetest part of everything they had built together.
She said that watching McDowell become a father and living through this new chapter of their life as a family was one of the greatest joys of her life. She added that it was striking to think it was all just beginning, noting that five years had passed and that the two of them still had a whole life ahead of them together.
