Liga de Quito added 13 players during the 2026 football season as the Ecuadorian side fight to secure Copa Libertadores qualification.
The squad overhaul spanned both transfer windows of the year, bringing in domestic and international talent across multiple competitions. However, after falling out of the domestic cup, the team face a tense final run in the national league to reach South America's top club tournament next year.
According to figures from football statistics database Transfermarkt, Brazilian forward Deyverson finished as the club's top scorer among the new arrivals with nine goals and four assists. Forward Yerlin Quiñónez ranked second with six goals, while winger Janner Corozo contributed five goals and five assists across all fixtures.
Jesús Pretell recorded the highest number of appearances among the recruits, featuring in 47 matches. Quiñónez followed closely with 45 appearances, while Deyverson took the field in 44 games. The performance records encompass matches played across the LigaPro Serie A, the Copa Ecuador, the Copa Libertadores, and the league's first hexagonal phase.
Squad arrivals across two transfer windows
The club, based in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito and widely known as the Albos, structured their recruitment in two distinct phases. Seven players arrived during the opening stage of the year: Pretell, Quiñónez, Deyverson, Corozo, Luis Segovia, Rodney Redes, and Alejandro Tobar.
A second recruitment drive brought five additional players later in the year, adding José Carabalí, Lucas Rodríguez, Marcelo Weigandt, Frangoy Zambrano, and Kevin Velasco. Midfielder Sebastián González also rejoined the institution following a spell playing international football abroad.
Copa Libertadores qualification battle
Liga de Quito's outlook for 2027 became significantly more complicated following their elimination from the Copa Ecuador by Universidad Católica. That knockout defeat permanently closed one potential qualification route to the Copa Libertadores, leaving the national league as the club's sole path into the prestigious continental competition.
The team currently sit fifth in the LigaPro standings with 53 points, trailing third-placed local rivals Aucas by a single point. To secure a place in the continental tournament, Liga de Quito must climb the table and finish inside the top three of the hexagonal, while Ecuadorian rivals Independiente del Valle have already clinched one of the direct spots in the group stage.
